These are JBL model SR4722A speakers and a Peavey MP4 Mixer/Amplifier. They sound very nice and can produce a lot of volume if you want or need that. I thought I might be able to use them with my keyboard but they are more than I need for that. Very powerful and definitely heavy duty speakers. I think the speakers would be good for someone who wants a lot of sound for a home theatre or some scenario like that, just more than I need. Some more comments from a review below.
The JBL SR4722A is a highly regarded, professional-grade 2-way compact speaker known for its high-quality components, including the 2206H 12-inch woofer and 2416 titanium compression driver. It delivers efficient, clear, and powerful sound suitable for small to mid-sized PA applications, club, or high-fidelity listening, often considered superior to modern, lower-end alternatives.
Key Features and Performance:
Drivers: Features the high-output 2206H 12" woofer (4-inch voice coil) and 2416 compression driver, offering excellent, detailed sound.
Sound Profile: Known for exceptional clarity and a "live" sound, often described as bright and forward.
Design: Robust construction, often referred to as "indestructible," with a 100° x 100° coverage pattern.
Best Use: Excellent for small PA, live music, or as a "high-end" speaker for those who prefer a dynamic, horn-loaded sound.
The JBL SR4722A is a compact, high-performance two-way loudspeaker system part of the JBL SR Series II [10]. It is designed for applications where a single, portable unit must deliver professional-grade sound over a large area, making it a popular choice for vocal reinforcement and music playback [4.1, 4.2].
Core Performance Characteristics
Audio Quality: Known for delivering a combination of powerful bass, crisp midrange, and clean highs [4.1]. The midrange is often described as smooth and natural due to its large horn design [4.3].
Power Handling: It features a continuous power capacity of 600 watts (at 8 ohms), allowing it to handle high-volume demands without excessive power compression [4.5, 4.12].
Coverage: Provides a very wide 100° x 100° dispersion pattern, which is ideal for covering broad audiences with a minimum amount of equipment [4.1, 4.2].
Sensitivity & Output: It is highly sensitive (around 104dB), capable of reaching a maximum SPL of 130dB (136dB peak), ensuring loud, clear output even at a distance [4.3, 4.5].
Key Component Performance
Low Frequency (LF): Utilizes a 2206H 12-inch Vented Gap Cooling (VGC™) transducer. This specialized cooling technology improves power handling and reduces distortion during heavy use [4.2, 4.10].
High Frequency (HF): Combines a pure titanium diaphragm compression driver with a Bi-Radial® horn for accurate high-frequency reproduction and consistent dispersion [4.2].
Bi-Amplification: The system supports bi-amplification, allowing users to use separate amplifiers for the HF and LF drivers to achieve optimized time alignment and EQ [4.3, 4.9].
